Measuring your opening before installing a sliding barn door system is easy, just need a tape measure and a pen to write down the measurements. For openings with architraves/door jamb, you don't have to remove it. 

Note, for openings wothout a bulkhead (openig direct to ceiling), sliding barn door system installation is not available.

Steps are as below:

1. Openig Height (Measure from the bottom of bulkhead to the finished floor, or measure from the top edge of the architraves/door jamb to the finished floor if has architraves/door jamb)
2. Opening Width (Measure the internal width of a plain plastered opening, or measure the total width including the architraves/door jamb if has architraves/door jamb)
3. Ceiling Height (Measure from the bottom of the cornice to the finished floor, or measure from ceiling to finished floor if you have square cornice)
4. Bulkhead (Ceiling height - opening height = bulkhead, or measure from bottom of cornice to top of opening)
5. Wall Space (Measure the wall length next to the opening)
